October 31, 2003, Newsletter Issue #87: Topping The Ball

Tip of the Week

This is a common error of most golfers and this can be traced directly to moving the head either on your backswing or downswing. I don`t subscribe to the theory that the head should remain in a fixed position throughout your swing. This is impossible, for it must rotate. However, if your head moves beyond a normal rotation, then you will probably lose sight of the ball and a topped shot will result. So, move your head only within your own limitations. That is, don`t move it to the point where you lose sight of the ball, even for a split-second. Proper moition of the head will eliminate most of your topping.

Good golfing!
